student protest research

I am currently a Masters student at The University of Brighton and was wondering if you would be able to provide me with a little help or guidance on a research project I am undertaking.

I am conducting some research which looks at how local residents in Brighton & Hove viewed the policing of the 2010 student protests. I have specifically decided to look at the views of local residents as I feel that their opinions and feelings on the policing of protests, particularly if in close proximity to their home, have not been sufficiently researched or voiced in literature.

I am hoping to conduct some interviews with local residents who are located on or near the route of the protests. Bedford Square is therefore an area which I am particularly interested in and specifically keen to gain an understanding of how local residents felt about the handling of the protests.

Interviews would be short and informal however I would like to record them as this would help with analysing my results, although this is not at all compulsory. Anyone spoken to will remain anonymous and would not be identified whatsoever in the final write up.

If you had any ideas or recommendations of anyone who would not mind participating in this research I would be extremely appreciative.

Thank you very much for your time.

Kind Regards,

Sandrine Harris (MA Criminology)
